Yom Shabbat Program on Start-Up Nation: Doing Business in the Hot Israeli Economy
January 27- January 28, 2012
Did you know that the Israeli economy has nearly doubled in size over the last ten years? That the number of business start-ups, patents, and inventions per capital in Israel exceeds every other country’s? That joint ventures between US and Israeli companies now represents more than one percent of the entire Massachusetts economy?
At this Yom Shabbat weekend, we will talk about the phenomenon of Israel as a Start-Up Nation. Our main speaker on Saturday afternoon will be Israeli entrepreneur Ory Zik, who has been involved with a large number of start-up companies within Israel’s creative energy sector. We will also be joined by panelists who will provide practical information about doing business in Israel as well as discussing what changes in the Israeli economy mean for the Jewish state and the world.
To prepare for this Yom Shabbat event, Temple Isaiah’s Israel Action Committee Book Club will discuss the book Startup Nation by Dan Senor and Saul Singer on Wednesday, January 4, at 8:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend this meeting.

Special Guest Speaker Zeidan Atashi
Shabbat Service, on Friday, October 21, 2010, 8:00 p.m.
Zeidan Atashi has a special place in the life of modern-day Israel and in its history. An Israeli Druze Arab, he became the first non-Jewish Israeli to hold a diplomatic post when he was appointed Consul and Head of Information Affairs at the Consulate General in New York. He served eight years in two different terms as a member of Knesset, and was a founding member of the Shinui party. His viewpoint and experience distinguish him from most other Israeli speakers. Be sure to join us for this important visit.
